Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Jean-Paul Riopelle could be acquired at Phillips in London in June last year for an unexpectedly low price. In the 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale auction, the work Two Shinnebock Whalers changed hands for GBP 75,600.00 (€ 87,825.69) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 100,000.00 – 150,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jean-Paul Riopelle achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Sans Titre in December 2017 with an auction result of EUR 4,882,500.00.
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von Jean-Paul Riopelle konnte im Juni letzten Jahres bei Phillips in London für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale wechselte die Arbeit Two Shinnebock Whalers für GBP 75.600,00 (€ 87.825,69) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 100.000,00 – 150.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jean-Paul Riopelle erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Sans Titre im Dezember 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 4.882.500,00.
