A top price for Jeremy Deller - as previously expected
In June 2008 Phillips in London held the auction Contemporary Art Evening Sale, which included the work The Uses of Literacy by Jeremy Deller. The price achieved of GBP 61,250.00 (€ 77,422.05) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 50,000.00 – 70,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, The Uses of Literacy is the most expensive artwork by Jeremy Deller that we have observed at auctions so far.

Im Juni 2008 führte Phillips in London die Auktion Contemporary Art Evening Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Uses of Literacy von Jeremy Deller zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 61.250,00 (€ 77.422,05) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 50.000,00 – 70.000,00 angegeben worden. Auch wenn das Ergebnis damit nicht positiv überraschen konnte, ist The Uses of Literacy das teuerste Kunstwerk von Jeremy Deller, das wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachtet haben.
