Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Dream Object (I'M At An Art School Where An Asian Student Is Sneaking Through Cardboard Doors Past Guard And Two Anglo Woman Driking Out Of Large Plastic Cups) by Jim Shaw was auctioned at Christies in London in March 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 5,000.00 – 7,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 1,875.00 (€ 2,202.64). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jim Shaw achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Dr. Goldfoot And His Bikini Bombs in March 2013 with an auction result of USD 206,500.00 (€ 161,126.72).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Dream Object (I'M At An Art School Where An Asian Student Is Sneaking Through Cardboard Doors Past Guard And Two Anglo Woman Driking Out Of Large Plastic Cups) von Jim Shaw im März 2021 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 5.000,00 – 7.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 1.875,00 (€ 2.202,64) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jim Shaw erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Dr. Goldfoot And His Bikini Bombs im März 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 206.500,00 (€ 161.126,72).
