Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The Temple of Sibyl, with the Falls of Tivoli below by John 'Warwick' Smith was auctioned at Christies in London in July 2014, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 1,250.00 (€ 1,576.64). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John 'Warwick' Smith achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work St. Cosimato And Remains Of The Claudian Aqueduct: Situated On The River Anio, 10 Miles Above Tivoli, In The Apennines; And Port Of Terracina, And Ruins Of Anticul Anxur, Situated On The Confines Of The Roman Territories, Entering The Kingdom Of Napl in December 2007 with an auction result of GBP 16,100.00 (€
Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit St. Cosimato And Remains Of The Claudian Aqueduct: Situated On The River Anio, 10 Miles Above Tivoli, In The Apennines; And Port Of Terracina, And Ruins Of Anticul Anxur, Situated On The Confines Of The Roman Territories, Entering The Kingdom Of Napl im Dezember 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 16.100,00 (€ 21.877,17).
