Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In June 2018 Sothebys in London held the auction Contemporary Art Evening Auction, which included the work Portrait On A White Cover by Lucian Freud. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 20,000,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 22,464,300.00 (€ 25,388,487.38). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Lucian Freud - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Large Interior, W11 (after Watteau), which sold at auction in November last year for USD 86,265,000.00 (€ 83,565,823.89).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Juni 2018 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Contemporary Art Evening Auction durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait On A White Cover von Lucian Freud zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 20.000.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 22.464.300,00 (€ 25.388.487,38) einen neuen Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Lucian Freud mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Large Interior, W11 (after Watteau) beobachtet, die im November letzten Jahres für USD 86.265.000,00 (€ 83.565.823,89) versteigert wurde.
