Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Magdalena Abakanowicz achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in December 2018. In the First Open Online: Post-War and Contemporary Art auction, the work Magac sold for USD 16,250.00 (€ 14,184.71) - well above the upper estimate of USD 8,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Magdalena Abakanowicz achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Flock (12 Standing Figures, from 'Ragazzi' Cycle) in November 2017 with an auction result of USD 480,500.00 (€ 403,849.39).
