Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Battle of Flores, 1591: Sir Richard Grenville and the last fight of H.M.S. Revenge by Norman Wilkinson was sold in the Christie's Interiors auction at Christies in London in August 2012. The price achieved of GBP 812.50 (€ 1,024.77) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 700.00 – 1,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Norman Wilkinson achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Canadian Pacific liner Empress of Canada lying in Hong Kong harbour in April last year with an auction result of GBP 35,580.00 (€ 42,427.89).
