Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Paul Signac achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in November 2013. In the Impressionist & Modern Art Day Sale auction, the work Venise, San Giorgio (Éventail) sold for USD 413,000.00 (€ 303,542.55) - well above the upper estimate of USD 150,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Paul Signac achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Concarneau, calme du matin (Opus no. 219, larghetto) in November last year with an auction result of USD 39,320,000.00 (€ 38,089,702.61).
