Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Lesson by Paula Rego was auctioned at Christies in London in February 2008. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 400,000.00 – 600,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 446,100.00 (€ 583,481.29) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Paula Rego have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Dancing Ostriches from Walt Disney's 'Fantasia' in October this year with an auction result of GBP 3,065,000.00 (€ 3,519,471.52).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit The Lesson von Paula Rego kam im Februar 2008 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 400.000,00 – 600.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 446.100,00 (€ 583.481,29) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Paula Rego auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Dancing Ostriches from Walt Disney's 'Fantasia' im Oktober diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 3.065.000,00 (€ 3.519.471,52).
