Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2014 Sothebys in New York held the auction Impressionist & Modern Art Day Sale, which included the work Surrealist Still Life (Pirate Souvenirs) by Pierre Roy. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 40,625.00 (€ 29,783.72) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Pierre Roy - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work La Barque Chinoise, which sold at auction in November 2010 for EUR 84,804.00.
