Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work 12Th Degree Minerval by Spencer Sweeney was auctioned at Sothebys in London in November 2018, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 8,125.00 (€ 9,164.75). Admittedly, works by Spencer Sweeney have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Saint Tropez Gigolo in July 2020 with an auction result of USD 50,000.00 (€ 42,466.45).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit 12Th Degree Minerval von Spencer Sweeney im November 2018 bei Sothebys in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 8.125,00 (€ 9.164,75) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Spencer Sweeney auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Saint Tropez Gigolo im Juli 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 50.000,00 (€ 42.466,45).
