Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Scared of no Monster by Wonder Buhle Mbambo was auctioned at Phillips in New York in September last year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 15,000.00 – 20,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 15,120.00 (€ 15,455.38) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Wonder Buhle Mbambo have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Hearts in October 2021 with an auction result of USD 175,000.00 (€ 151,488.92).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Scared of no Monster von Wonder Buhle Mbambo kam im September letzten Jahres bei Phillips in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 15.000,00 – 20.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 15.120,00 (€ 15.455,38) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Wonder Buhle Mbambo auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Hearts im Oktober 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 175.000,00 (€ 151.488,92).
