Tunisia and South Africa in the focus of two exhibitions

On February 11, two exhibitions that critically examine two societies will open simultaneously at macLyon: In Until My Veins Collapse (States of Emergency), Thameur Mejri examines the unequal distribution of power in Tunisia, while in The Red Ventriloquist, Mary Sibande exposes the consequences of apartheid in South Africa that are still impossible to overlook today.

Hamburg Deichtorhallen: Photography Award exhibition

The art prize for up-and-coming photographers awarded by the Hamburg Deichtorhallen enters its 17th round. Under the title Gute Aussichten - Junge deutsche Fotografie 2020/2021 (Good Prospects - Young German Photography 2020/2021), the museum is showing the works of the eight winners in the PHOXXI. Solo exhibition Hayward Gallery – Southbank Centre London

Art of Romanticism in Dresden

A friend and teacher of Caspar David Friedrich and esteemed art professor who met a tragic end: Born 250 years ago today, Gerhard von Kügelgen taught at the Dresden Academy of Art and painted portraits that were particularly true to life. At the height of his skill, Kügelgen lost his life in a robbery-murder at the age of 48.
