Auction result well in line with expectations
In April this year Christies in New York held the auction Photographs, which included the work Lovers, rue Croulebarbe, near Place d'Italie, c. 1932 by Brassaï. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 10,080.00 (€ 9,130.43) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Brassaï have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Ciel Postiche (False Sky) in April 2001 with an auction result of USD 44,650.00 (€ 50,315.53).
