Auction result well in line with expectations
The work No. Ii Rape Of The Sabines Theme by Ceri Richards was sold in the Made in Britain auction at Sothebys in London in March 2020. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 1,500.00 – 2,500.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 1,750.00 (€ 1,976.11) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ceri Richards achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Interior in June 2017 with an auction result of GBP 175,000.00 (€ 199,292.35).
