Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In February 2020 Sothebys in London held the auction Contemporary Art Evening Auction, which included the work Head Of J.Y.M. by Frank Auerbach. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 1,500,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 1,695,000.00 (€ 1,964,508.84). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Frank Auerbach - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Head of Gerda Boehm, which sold at auction in June last year for GBP 4,149,000.00 (€ 4,819,957.78).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Februar 2020 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Contemporary Art Evening Auction durch, in der auch die Arbeit Head Of J.Y.M. von Frank Auerbach zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 1.500.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 1.695.000,00 (€ 1.964.508,84) einen neuen Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Frank Auerbach mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Head of Gerda Boehm beobachtet, die im Juni letzten Jahres für GBP 4.149.000,00 (€ 4.819.957,78) versteigert wurde.
