In February 2004 Christies in New York held the auction Photographs, which included the work William Street, Derry, 1972 by Gilles Peress. The »bidding war« ended at USD 2,629.00 (€ 2,113.17), 31% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Gilles Peress - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Telex Persan -- Telex Iran. Paris: Contrejour, 1984., which sold at auction in May 2010 for GBP 5,000.00 (€ 5,858.19).

Im Februar 2004 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Photographs durch, in der auch die Arbeit William Street, Derry, 1972 von Gilles Peress zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 2.629,00 (€ 2.113,17) und damit 31% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Gilles Peress mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Telex Persan -- Telex Iran. Paris: Contrejour, 1984. beobachtet, die im Mai 2010 für GBP 5.000,00 (€ 5.858,19) versteigert wurde.
