Upper estimate price exceeded by 72 %.
In July 2011 Christies in London held the auction Old Master Prints, which included the work The Standard-Bearer (Holl. 179) by Jacques de Gheyn II.. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,375.00 (€ 1,578.02), 72% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jacques de Gheyn II. achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A large beech, partly in leaf in July 2014 with an auction result of GBP 1,142,500.00 (€ 1,441,051.72).
