Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Stabat Mater (Blood Red) #34 by James Brown was sold in the New Now auction at Phillips in New York in September 2021. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 5,040.00 (€ 4,353.46) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by James Brown achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Ohne Titel in June 2019 with an auction result of EUR 64,480.00.

Die Arbeit Stabat Mater (Blood Red) #34 von James Brown wurde im September 2021 in der Auktion New Now bei Phillips in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 5.000,00 – 7.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 5.040,00 (€ 4.353,46) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von James Brown erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Ohne Titel im Juni 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 64.480,00.
