Artwork auctioned at five times the upper estimate price
The work Tête d'arlequin sur bleu by Jean Cocteau was worth GBP 7,560.00 (€ 8,798.54) to a buyer in June this year. This price was achieved in the auction Impressionist and Modern Art Day and Works on Paper Sale at Christies in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 1,500.00 many times over. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jean Cocteau achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Mediterranee - 1952 in December 2014 with an auction result of EUR 132,000.00.
