Auction result well in line with expectations
The work To Repel Ghosts by Jean-Michel Basquiat was auctioned at Phillips in New York in November last year. The price achieved of USD 7,862,500.00 (€ 7,616,487.46) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 7,000,000.00 – 10,000,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jean-Michel Basquiat achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work without title in May 2017 with an auction result of USD 110,487,500.00 (€ 98,333,481.67).

Die Arbeit To Repel Ghosts von Jean-Michel Basquiat kam im November letzten Jahres bei Phillips in New York zur Auktion. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 7.862.500,00 (€ 7.616.487,46) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 7.000.000,00 – 10.000.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jean-Michel Basquiat erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit ohne Titel im Mai 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 110.487.500,00 (€ 98.333.481,67).
