Description
LUCIAN FREUD (1922-2011) Pluto etching with hand-colouring in watercolour, 1988, on wove paper, signed with initials in pencil, numbered and dedicated 1/ for J.K. , a proof aside from the edition of forty (and ten artist's proofs), published by James Kirkman, London, and Brooke Alexander, New York Plate 324 x 607 mm. Sheet 420 x 685 mm.
Auction result well in line with expectations
In March this year Christies in London held the auction Prints and Multiples, which included the work Pluto by Lucian Freud. It changed hands for a price of GBP 75,600.00 (€ 86,009.60) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 60,000.00 – 80,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Lucian Freud achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Large Interior, W11 (after Watteau) in November last year with an auction result of USD 86,265,000.00 (€ 83,565,823.89).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im März diesen Jahres führte Christies in London die Auktion Prints and Multiples durch, in der auch die Arbeit Pluto von Lucian Freud zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 75.600,00 (€ 86.009,60) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 60.000,00 – 80.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Lucian Freud erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Large Interior, W11 (after Watteau) im November letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 86.265.000,00 (€ 83.565.823,89).
