Auction result well in line with expectations
In February 2020 Sothebys in London held the auction Contemporary Art Evening Auction, which included the work Duo by Philip Guston. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 1,000,000.00 – 1,500,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 1,095,000.00 (€ 1,269,107.48) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Philip Guston achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Strong Light in November 2021 with an auction result of USD 24,393,000.00 (€ 21,611,588.55).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Februar 2020 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Contemporary Art Evening Auction durch, in der auch die Arbeit Duo von Philip Guston zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 1.000.000,00 – 1.500.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 1.095.000,00 (€ 1.269.107,48) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Philip Guston erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Strong Light im November 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 24.393.000,00 (€ 21.611.588,55).
