Auction result well in line with expectations
The work For Bernard Jacobson by Howard Hodgkin was sold in the Prints and Multiples auction at Bonhams in London in June this year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 5,000.00 – 7,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 5,376.00 (€ 6,256.74) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Howard Hodgkin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Goodbye to the Bay of Naples in October 2017 with an auction result of GBP 1,688,750.00 (€ 1,925,505.56).
