Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Chambre D'Hotel (#28) by Sophie Calle was sold in the Post War and Contemporary Art Afternoon Session auction at Christies in New York in May 2006. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 21,600.00 (€ 16,831.61) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Sophie Calle have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Sleepers (Les dormeurs) in November 2011 with an auction result of USD 218,500.00 (€ 162,417.30).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Chambre D'Hotel (#28) von Sophie Calle wurde im Mai 2006 in der Auktion Post War and Contemporary Art Afternoon Session bei Christies in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 20.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 21.600,00 (€ 16.831,61) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Sophie Calle auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Sleepers (Les dormeurs) im November 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 218.500,00 (€ 162.417,30).
