It achieved a price of USD 21,250.00 (€ 18,245.04), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 42%. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by W. Eugene Smith - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Walk to Paradise Garden, 1946, which sold at auction in October 2016 for USD 52,500.00 (€ 47,892.72).

Die Arbeit Tomoko Uemura Being Bathed by her Mother, Minamata von W. Eugene Smith wurde im Oktober 2020 in der Auktion Photographs bei Phillips in New York versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von USD 21.250,00 (€ 18.245,04) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 42%. Für andere Arbeiten von W. Eugene Smith mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Walk to Paradise Garden, 1946 beobachtet, die im Oktober 2016 für USD 52.500,00 (€ 47.892,72) versteigert wurde.
