Auction result well in line with expectations
This work without title by Wangechi Mutu was sold in the Post-War & Contemporary Art Afternoon Session auction at Christies in New York in November 2017. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 25,000.00 – 35,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 27,500.00 (€ 23,113.13) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Wangechi Mutu achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Little Thought for All Ya'll Who're Thinking of Beating Around the Bush in February 2008 with an auction result of GBP 204,500.00 (€ 267,477.97).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Wangechi Mutu wurde im November 2017 in der Auktion Post-War & Contemporary Art Afternoon Session bei Christies in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 25.000,00 – 35.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 27.500,00 (€ 23.113,13) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Wangechi Mutu erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A Little Thought for All Ya'll Who're Thinking of Beating Around the Bush im Februar 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 204.500,00 (€ 267.477,97).
