Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Saint-Germain des Prés by Willy James was sold in the Impressionist, Modern & Post War Art auction at Christies in London in September 2001. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 1,500.00 – 2,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 1,527.50 (€ 2,466.26) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Willy James have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work L'Étang Gelé Aux Patineurs in April 2008 with an auction result of GBP 11,250.00 (€ 14,342.16).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Saint-Germain des Prés von Willy James wurde im September 2001 in der Auktion Impressionist, Modern & Post War Art bei Christies in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 1.500,00 – 2.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 1.527,50 (€ 2.466,26) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Willy James auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit L'Étang Gelé Aux Patineurs im April 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 11.250,00 (€ 14.342,16).
