For almost 30 years, the villa of painter Franz von Stuck has been a museum. In keeping with the spirit of an artist's villa, where a dialogue of visual art, architecture, music and theater is encouraged, the museum organizes diverse, interdisciplinary temporary exhibitions. Nevin Aladağ, who has already made a name for herself in Venice and at the last documenta, is a professor of interdisciplinary artistic work in Dresden. Now she is having her most comprehensive solo exhibition to date at Villa Stuck. Older works and works made especially for the exhibition will be shown.
Aladağ experiments with sound and music as a component of visual art in conjunction with installations, video works and performances. In addition to the creative processing of instruments, she is interested in the sound of everyday objects and furniture. She designs her sound installations very scientifically. Major and minor alterations to the objects are carried out until a harmonious overall picture of sound emerges, in which each individual sound track can retain its individuality.
In each of the many rooms of the sprawling Villa Stuck, a wide variety of installations and performances await, offering surprising art experiences to see and hear. Aladağ partially incorporates von Stuck's paintings into her sound world - the paintings, which are more than 100 years old, can now also be seen anew in a unique way until February 20, 2022.
