Art Museum Ahrenshoop: »Die Eicken – oder: Malen gegen männliche Vorurteile«

Ahrenshoop, located on the Fischland-Darß-Zingst peninsula chain in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, will present Die Eicken - oder: Malen gegen männliche Vorurteile (The Eicken - or: Painting against Male Prejudices), a show of works by the artist Elisabeth von Eicken, who has strong ties to the region, at the local art museum starting December 5. Around 150 works and life documents can be seen in it.

Aarhus: Artists Shoplifter and Lu Yang in special exhibition

ARoS in Aarhus will showcase not one but two female artists in the changing exhibition on Level 1 from December 4, 2021: Icelandic Shoplifter (real name: Hrafnhildur Arnardóttir) and Chinese Lu Yang will share the exhibition space there until April 24, 2022.

Starting on December 4, the Kunstverein Hamburg is dedicating a solo exhibition to him entitled Songs for dying / Songs for living, in which the cycle of life and death is retold.

Our tips for the weekend

This week there are a couple of exhibitions that deal with life. While the Tate Britain is highlighting the lives of Caribbean artists in Britain in a group exhibition, the Kunstverein Hamburg is showing the cycle of life and death through an atmospheric narrative by Korakrit Arunanondchai. In addition, the Art Miami fair and a special exhibition on hair sculptures and digital art are running at ARoS.

Kunstmuseum Luzern: Annual exhibitions »zentral!« and »Solo. Mahtola Wittmer«

The Kunstmuseum Luzern combines the annual group exhibition zentral! with the associated solo exhibition Solo by last year's winner of the Ausstellungspreis Kunstgesellschaft Luzern (exhibition prize) of the same name. From 14 December onwards, cross-disciplinary works by up-and-coming talents from Central Switzerland as well as objects and performance interventions by Lucerne artist Mahtola Wittmer can be seen here.

Here, the assumption of the humanity of objects, the idea of one's own four walls as the stage of daily life as well as the revelation of social categories via the construct of living are illustrated with the help of works partly designed especially for the exhibition.

Mathematics and Arts – A surprisingly fruitful interaction

At first glance, the areas of mathematics and arts seem very separated and almost impossible to combine within a given project. Yet, history is surprisingly rich in examples for such fruitful interplays and the last decades saw an increase in both conference- and journal formats to further support interdisciplinary interaction between mathematics and arts. A new event along these lines is a minisymposium which provides opportunities for further exchange, networking, and inspiration.

Works by Sofia Duchovny at the Kunsthalle Mannheim
