Auction result misses estimated price range
In April this year a collector was able to acquire the work A Monastic Brothel, rue Monsieur-le-Prince, Paris by Brassaï for USD 4,826.00 (€ 4,371.38). This price was achieved in the auction Photographs at Phillips in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 6,000.00 – 8,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Brassaï achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Ciel Postiche (False Sky) in April 2001 with an auction result of USD 44,650.00 (€ 50,315.53).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im April diesen Jahres konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit A Monastic Brothel, rue Monsieur-le-Prince, Paris von Brassaï für USD 4.826,00 (€ 4.371,38) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Photographs bei Phillips in New York erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von USD 6.000,00 – 8.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Brassaï erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Ciel Postiche (False Sky) im April 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 44.650,00 (€ 50.315,53).
