This artwork by Ernie Barnes achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in February this year. In the 20th/21st Century: London Evening Sale auction, the work The Stroll sold for GBP 327,600.00 (€ 373,671.65) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 150,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ernie Barnes achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Sugar Shack in May last year with an auction result of USD 15,275,000.00 (€ 14,234,460.91).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Ernie Barnes erzielte im Februar diesen Jahres bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion 20th/21st Century: London Evening Sale wurde die Arbeit The Stroll für GBP 327.600,00 (€ 373.671,65) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 150.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Ernie Barnes erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Sugar Shack im Mai letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 15.275.000,00 (€ 14.234.460,91).
