Auction result well in line with expectations

The price achieved of GBP 742,500.00 (€ 872,246.23) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 600,000.00 – 800,000.00. Admittedly, works by Frank Auerbach have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Head of Gerda Boehm in June last year with an auction result of GBP 4,149,000.00 (€ 4,819,957.78).

Die Arbeit Reclining Head Of Gerda Boehm von Frank Auerbach kam im März 2021 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 742.500,00 (€ 872.246,23) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 600.000,00 – 800.000,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Frank Auerbach auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Head of Gerda Boehm im Juni letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 4.149.000,00 (€ 4.819.957,78).
