Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work (i) Caribbean Sea Jamaica 1980(ii) South Pacific Ocean Tearai 1991 by Hiroshi Sugimoto was sold in the First Open: Post-War and Contemporary Art Online auction at Christies in London in October last year. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 3,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 3,024.00 (€ 3,522.93). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Hiroshi Sugimoto achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Black Sea, Ozuluce; Yellow Sea, Cheju; Red Sea, Safaga in May 2007 with an auction result of USD 1,888,000.00 (€ 1,403,404.45).
