Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Composition G4 by László Moholy-Nagy was auctioned at Christies in London in March last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 700,000.00 – 1,000,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 500,000.00 (€ 592,806.27). Admittedly, works by László Moholy-Nagy have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Em 1 Telephonbild (Em 1 Telephone Picture) in November 2016 with an auction result of USD 6,087,500.00 (€ 5,754,868.60).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Composition G4 von László Moholy-Nagy im März letzten Jahres bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 700.000,00 – 1.000.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 500.000,00 (€ 592.806,27) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von László Moholy-Nagy auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Em 1 Telephonbild (Em 1 Telephone Picture) im November 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 6.087.500,00 (€ 5.754.868,60).
