Description
LUCIAN FREUD (1922-2011) Garden in Winter etching, 1997-1999, on Somerset wove paper, signed with initials in pencil, numbered 7/46 (there were also 12 artist's proofs), printed by Studio Prints, London, with their blindstamp, published by Matthew Marks Gallery, New York Plate 766 x 595 mm. Sheet 986 x 773 mm.
Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Garden in Winter by Lucian Freud was auctioned at Christies in London in March this year. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 50,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 56,700.00 (€ 64,507.20). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Lucian Freud achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Large Interior, W11 (after Watteau) in November last year with an auction result of USD 86,265,000.00 (€ 83,565,823.89).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Garden in Winter von Lucian Freud kam im März diesen Jahres bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 50.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 56.700,00 (€ 64.507,20) einen neuen Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Lucian Freud erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Large Interior, W11 (after Watteau) im November letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 86.265.000,00 (€ 83.565.823,89).
