Auction result well in line with expectations
The work De Ou Par Marcel Duchamp Ou Rrose Sélavy (La Boîte-En-Valise), Series A Untitled by Marcel Duchamp was sold in the 20th Century Evening Sale auction at Christies in New York in May 2021. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 2,000,000.00 – 3,000,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 2,070,000.00 (€ 1,697,556.18) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Marcel Duchamp have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Belle haleine - Eau de voilette in February 2009 with an auction result of EUR 8,913,000.00.
