Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Lambda Ii by Morris Louis was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in November 2019. The price achieved of USD 1,820,000.00 (€ 1,651,692.53) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 1,500,000.00 – 2,000,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Morris Louis - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Floral V, which sold at auction in November last year for USD 5,580,000.00 (€ 5,405,405.41).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Lambda Ii von Morris Louis kam im November 2019 bei Sothebys in New York zur Auktion. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 1.820.000,00 (€ 1.651.692,53) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 1.500.000,00 – 2.000.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Morris Louis mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Floral V beobachtet, die im November letzten Jahres für USD 5.580.000,00 (€ 5.405.405,41) versteigert wurde.
