This artwork by Pat Steir achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in March 2021. In the Contemporary Curated auction, the work Waterfall Series: Painted with the Chinese in Mind sold for USD 721,800.00 (€ 614,664.06) - well above the upper estimate of USD 400,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Pat Steir - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Elective Affinity Waterfall, which sold at auction in May 2018 for USD 2,295,000.00 (€ 1,966,580.98).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Pat Steir erzielte im März 2021 bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Contemporary Curated wurde die Arbeit Waterfall Series: Painted with the Chinese in Mind für USD 721.800,00 (€ 614.664,06) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 400.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Pat Steir mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Elective Affinity Waterfall beobachtet, die im Mai 2018 für USD 2.295.000,00 (€ 1.966.580,98) versteigert wurde.
