Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Clairière (The Glade) by Paul Cézanne was sold in the Modern Evening Auction auction at Sothebys in New York in May last year. Here, the upper estimate of USD 40,000,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 41,688,500.00 (€ 38,848,662.75). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Paul Cézanne - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work La Montagne Sainte-Victoire, which sold at auction in November last year for USD 137,790,000.00 (€ 133,478,639.93).
