Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Philip Guston could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in May last year for an unexpectedly low price. In the Modern Evening Auction auction, the work Nile changed hands for USD 18,000,000.00 (€ 16,773,832.82) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 20,000,000.00 – 30,000,000.00. Other works by Philip Guston have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in November 2021 by the work Strong Light at USD 24,393,000.00 (€ 21,611,588.55).
