In the Impressionist & Modern Art Day Sale Including Works from the Collection of Marina Picasso auction, the work Travail préparatoire pour une gouache inachevée sold for GBP 88,200.00 (€ 103,612.28) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 50,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by René Magritte achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work L’empire des lumières in March last year with an auction result of GBP 59,422,000.00 (€ 70,451,468.85).

Dieses Kunstwerk von René Magritte erzielte im März 2021 bei Sothebys in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Impressionist & Modern Art Day Sale Including Works from the Collection of Marina Picasso wurde die Arbeit Travail préparatoire pour une gouache inachevée für GBP 88.200,00 (€ 103.612,28) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 50.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von René Magritte erzielen.
