Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Sam Francis could be acquired at Phillips in New York in July this year for an unexpectedly low price. In the 20th Century & Contemporary Art auction, the work Untitled (SF73-0002) changed hands for USD 19,050.00 (€ 17,286.75) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Sam Francis achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Composition in Blue and Black in November last year with an auction result of USD 13,557,500.00 (€ 13,133,294.58).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von Sam Francis konnte im Juli diesen Jahres bei Phillips in New York für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion 20th Century & Contemporary Art wechselte die Arbeit Untitled (SF73-0002) für USD 19.050,00 (€ 17.286,75) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 20.000,00 – 30.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Sam Francis erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Composition in Blue and Black im November letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 13.557.500,00 (€ 13.133.294,58).
