This artwork by Tom Wesselmann achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in May 2001. In the Post War and Contemporary auction, the work Study Drawing for Nude on a Couch sold for USD 14,100.00 (€ 16,676.52) - well above the upper estimate of USD 6,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Tom Wesselmann achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Great American Nude No. 48 in May 2008 with an auction result of USD 10,681,000.00 (€ 6,864,395.89).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Tom Wesselmann erzielte im Mai 2001 bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Post War and Contemporary wurde die Arbeit Study Drawing for Nude on a Couch für USD 14.100,00 (€ 16.676,52) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 6.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Tom Wesselmann erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Great American Nude No. 48 im Mai 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 10.681.000,00 (€ 6.864.395,89).
