In November last year Christies in New York held the auction Visionary: The Paul G. Allen Collection Part I, which included the work Winter Timber by David Hockney. The »bidding war« ended at USD 23,290,000.00 (€ 22,561,270.95), 55% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by David Hockney; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Nichols Canyon sold at auction in December 2020 with the realized price of USD 41,067,500.00 (€ 33,579,313.16).

Im November letzten Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion Visionary: The Paul G. Allen Collection Part I durch, in der auch die Arbeit Winter Timber von David Hockney zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 23.290.000,00 (€ 22.561.270,95) und damit 55% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von David Hockney; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Nichols Canyon im Dezember 2020 mit dem Hammerpreis von USD 41.067.500,00 (€ 33.579.313,16).
