Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Ed Ruscha achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in April this year. In the The Sale of the Century: An Important Corporate Collection of Prints and Multiples auction, the work News, Mews, Pews, Brews, Stews & Dues sold for USD 32,760.00 (€ 29,673.91) - well above the upper estimate of USD 15,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ed Ruscha achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Hurting the Word Radio #2 in November 2019 with an auction result of USD 52,485,000.00 (€ 47,631,364.01).
