Artwork auctioned at seven times the upper estimate price
The work Etude pour le Christ à la colonne by Ernest Pignon-Ernest was worth EUR 11,970.00 to a buyer in March last year. This price was achieved in the auction Living Contemporary at Sothebys in Paris and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of EUR 1,500.00 many times over. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Ernest Pignon-Ernest - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work David Et Goliath, 1990, which sold at auction in February 2014 for EUR 26,000.00.
