It changed hands for a price of EUR 8,528.00 achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of EUR 7,000.00 – 9,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Francis Bacon achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Three Studies Of Lucian Freud in November 2013 with an auction result of USD 142,405,000.00 (€ 104,663,383.80).

Die Arbeit Oedipe et le Sphinx - 1984 von Francis Bacon kam im Mai diesen Jahres bei Artcurial zur Auktion. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von EUR 8.528,00 den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von EUR 7.000,00 – 9.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Francis Bacon erzielen.
