Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In October 2020 Sothebys in New York held the auction Contemporary Art Evening Auction, which included the work Composition by Franz Kline. Here, the upper estimate of USD 4,000,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 4,013,000.00 (€ 3,445,522.45). Admittedly, works by Franz Kline have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work without title in November 2012 with an auction result of USD 40,402,500.00 (€ 31,054,957.72).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Oktober 2020 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Contemporary Art Evening Auction durch, in der auch die Arbeit Composition von Franz Kline zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von USD 4.000.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für USD 4.013.000,00 (€ 3.445.522,45) einen neuen Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Franz Kline auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit ohne Titel im November 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 40.402.500,00 (€ 31.054.957,72).
