Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Study for Negro Sunshine II #41 by Glenn Ligon was auctioned at Christies in London in July 2021. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 15,000.00 – 20,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 16,250.00 (€ 19,056.49) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Glenn Ligon achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Untitled (I Was Somebody) in November 2014 with an auction result of USD 3,973,000.00 (€ 3,194,243.45).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Study for Negro Sunshine II #41 von Glenn Ligon kam im Juli 2021 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 15.000,00 – 20.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 16.250,00 (€ 19.056,49) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Glenn Ligon erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Untitled (I Was Somebody) im November 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 3.973.000,00 (€ 3.194.243,45).
